Rates Information

My fee is $95 per hour.

A typical personal tax return takes approximately three hours, and costs $285. A typical personal return would include federal form 1040 with three or four straightforward schedules or attachments, and your home state income tax return. Situations that could lead to longer preparation times and higher fees include:

Sole Proprietorship, Schedule C or F (typically 2 additional hours, $190)

Schedule D (Capital Gains and Losses) with complex transactions

Schedule E with rent or royalty income and related expenses

Other complex and unusual items

A typical business tax return, form 1065 or 1120S, takes approximately five hours, and costs $475. A typical business return would include the standard schedules (A, B, K, L, M1, M2), three or four K-1s, three other straightforward attachments, and your home state income tax return. If your business returns are more extensive than this, or include complex or unusual transactions, expect higher costs.

All of the above estimates reflect an expectation of orderly and complete bookkeeping on your part. Adjustments and “make ready” work lead to more time and higher costs.
